Cypress Hill's magical mystery album, "ELEPHANTS ON ACID." It all began with a dream DJ Muggs had. He woke up from a deep sleep in the dream and began to walk. Soon, he saw a man with an elephant's head. DJ Muggs went through the entrance, down the alley, and arrived at a door standing in the middle of the road. When he opened the door, a desert appeared. The mysterious man with the elephant's head kept walking, and gradually the sounds and reality became distorted, like a Salvador Dalí painting melting into the desert. Then, flames erupted, and thousands of elephants appeared one after another, only to explode, and the mysterious man with the elephant's head reappeared from another door.
Inspired by this vision, DJ Muggs created a mind-blowing soundscape. He then gave the sound, beats, and melodies to his Cypress Hill comrades, B-Real and Sen Dog. From there, the three began working on the album, creating a new sonic world. 27 years after their debut album, Cypress Hill, a hip-hop legend who has reigned over the scene, drops their ninth studio album, "ELEPHANTS ON ACID." This album features Cypress Hill's trademark style, including dark beats, unsettling sound effects, and the 2MC style of B-Real's high-pitched rap and Sen Dog's low, husky rap, as well as a deep and psychedelic soundscape reminiscent of Pink Floyd, The Doors, avant-garde jazz, and trip-hop. "This is a work like the embodiment of surrealism pulled from the subconscious," says DJ Muggs about this work. The new album, about eight years after the previous album "RISE UP," is, according to B-Real, "a journey back to our roots and at the same time, an escape to a new world." DJ Muggs says that the 21 songs on the album "allow you to experience the feeling of eating magic mushrooms without taking hallucinogens."
The first single from the album is "Band Of Gypsies." Featuring an Egyptian singer, Indian sitar, and tabla beats, it's a track that Cypress Hill's core fans are sure to love.
